Challenge
Throughout Switzerland, and in the vast majority of countries around the world, interRAI assessments have become the standard for evaluating a patient’s condition.
They comply with the Swiss Health Insurance Benefits Ordinance (OPAS) and are recognized by all insurance companies in Switzerland.
The quality of the services and the exchange of information between health care providers (Spitex, Hospital, Doctor…) are at the heart of this approach.
The organization in charge of its application and tool certifications is the ASD www.spitex.ch.

The fact is that the implementation of these assessments requires a particular organization and resources that must be supported by an information system.
This information system must be simple to use, and allow the assessments and alarm management to be carried out in an automated manner in full compliance with the standards in force.
It is just as important that these evaluations can be carried out directly at the customer’s premises in the information system, to avoid the use of paper forms and the re-entry of information in a software program.
Solution
In its vision of coordinating care and facilitating communication between health care actors, MLS naturally integrated the interRAI Home Care and interRAI Community Mental Health assessment system into its MedLink application.
This integration is certified by the ASD www.spitex.ch.
Authorized staff have access to assessments and alarm management and can implement an appropriate care plan. All procedures are also standardized and are taken from the ASD-compliant acts catalog.
Thus, the interRAI Home Care Switzerland and interRAI Community Mental Health Switzerland assessments are an integral part of a Spitex management process.
As the software is 100% web-based, authorized employees can carry out their assessments directly at the customer’s premises without having to re-enter the information at a later date. The care plan is prepared or adjusted and the services are defined in the platform.
All employees can thus work in a simple manner while complying with the required quality standards. Internal communication and exchanges with other healthcare actors are ensured in real time and completely secure.
Approach
Coordination and communication between health actors being part of its DNA, MLS has chosen to make the use of the HC & CMH interRAI available to all health organizations.
Evaluations are of course integrated within the MedLink application and can be simply activated on demand.
All our customers use these evaluations and benefit from the secure exchange possibilities with other healthcare actors, in particular hospitals and physicians.
In order to extend the possibility of using the Swiss interRAI to other organizations, or even to Spitexes that do not work with MedLink, MLS offers its use through a simple access to a web application.
To facilitate its use and avoid laborious customer entries, MLS also offers in this application its MPI (Master Patient Index) module. This module retrieves contact information and administrative data such as the client’s AVS and insurance number.
Thus, MLS opens up the interRAI to all its Spitex customers as well as to all organizations in the healthcare network that wish to do so.
Its 100% Web-based technology allows access and use at any time and on any fixed or mobile device.
