Challenge
Homecare Organizations are part of a group of institutions that are active in vaccination. As such, they must be integrated into the general process with other actors. This requires a control of coordination and reliable and secure information sharing.
Depending on the type of vaccine, the vaccination protocol may be different. Indeed, the first dose may be administered by a different actor (Hospital, Doctor, Pharmacy, Homecare Organizations…).
No errors are allowed in the administration of the doses. Depending on the vaccine, multiple doses are used and the time between each dose must be respected. The doses must be identified and referenced very clearly to avoid any errors.
Patient consent must also be 100% assured and must be monitored. This consent may change over time. Indeed, a patient may be apprehensive about the vaccine at a certain date and subsequently change his or her mind.
The entire immunization process must be scrupulously followed, in terms of who is involved, when, how they react to the vaccine, and any side effects. The exchange of information with other stakeholders and with health authorities should be simple while remaining strictly secure.
Time is running out for this new challenge, as Homecare Organizations are already active in the vaccination of their patients.

Solution
Aware of the urgency of the situation and having already produced a module for Covid19 symptom management in record time, MLS is also developing a module for vaccination management.
This module is fully integrated within its MedLink healthcare platform, thus benefiting from all the necessary security and the information is integrated into the Homecare Organizations management system.
The exchange of information and coordination of the actors is part of the MedLink philosophy.
This makes it possible to quickly make a module in three languages operational for all MLS Homecare Organizations customers.
The criteria of the FOPH regarding vaccination are respected and the safety requirements in the general vaccination process are integrated in the module.
MLS Homecare Organizations clients can contribute to the general vaccination effort in complete safety and based on software they already use for the management of their organization.

Impact
Thanks to its Web technology, MLS is very quickly developing a vaccination management module for all its clients. This module is developed in three languages, French, German and Italian.
Homecare Organizations participation in vaccination campaigns is made possible in a simple and secure way. The staff can work without fear of making mistakes, ensure the patient’s consent and follow him/her over time.
For management and administrative staff, the management of the vaccination and the exchange of information with other institutions and the authorities is greatly simplified.
Vaccines are clearly referenced, and all vaccination activities are documented and traced to ensure the safety of the campaigns.
Health care staff work smoothly and are not burdened with additional administrative tasks due to the use of a variety of third-party systems. The entire process is fully digitized.
The platform also makes it possible to quickly add new functionalities according to changes in the situation of vaccination campaigns, the introduction of new vaccines on the market and the evolution of vaccination protocols.
